Azorín del Río* arquitectura is the practice of Marta del Río and Joan Azorín in La Garriga (Barcelona), two architects with over twenty years of experience who specialised in Passivhaus seven years ago. Joan is a certified Passivhaus Designer. Their published work is housing: in La Garriga they turned an abandoned warehouse between party walls into a home, keeping the stone walls and lime finishes, adding a timber structure, wood-fibre insulation and heat-recovery ventilation; according to the studio, it has a demand of 18 kWh/m²·year and is EnerPHit certified. In Santa Susanna they built a passive house with a light timber frame prefabricated from the BIM model, wood-fibre insulation and lime mortars.
