São Paulo
Estudio Piloti is an architecture studio based in the Pompeia neighbourhood of São Paulo (Brazil), founded in 2016 by Vivian Hori Hawthorne and Luis Claudio Marques Dias, architects trained at Mackenzie University who worked in São Paulo practices and lived in Catalonia between 2005 and 2009, collaborating with Auquer i Prats Arquitectures. The team, multidisciplinary and with cooperative values, develops residential and commercial projects and oversees the complete build, with an approach that starts from each client's story to create spaces with soul, paying attention to light, air, materials and sensory experience. Their work incorporates local materials and low-impact techniques, such as the rammed earth used in their Rammed Earth House. Their Casa Pátio Guapuruvu was a finalist — among the five best in the world in the housing category — of ArchDaily's Building of the Year 2025 award, an international recognition of domestic architecture attentive to climate, context and local resources.
Why we chose it
Estudio Piloti offers a valuable perspective on Brazilian sustainable architecture with the use of local earth (Rammed Earth House) and international recognition.
