Estocolmo, Suecia
Stockholm studio behind Cederhusen, in the Hagastaden district, the city's first large solid-timber residential development and one of the most notable timber housing projects in the world. The building reaches up to 13 storeys, with the structure entirely in timber from level three upwards and prefabricated CLT walls, floor slabs and cores. Designed by Josef Eder and John Billberg, it was awarded the Swedish Wood Award 2024 and shortlisted for the EUmies Awards. It demonstrates the viability of tall collective housing in solid timber.
Why we chose it
Because they bring collective housing in solid timber to the height and density of the city centre, storing carbon right in the heart of the city.
