arquitectura
Bombay, India
Studio of Indian architect Bijoy Jain, based near Mumbai (India), known for integrating design and craft-based construction within a single workshop. Their work, such as Copper House II or Palmyra House, employs local materials — timber, stone, earth, palm — and traditional techniques adapted to the climate, with little reliance on machinery and concrete. The studio champions the knowledge of local master builders, an economy of means, and an architecture deeply tied to place and its resources.
Why we chose it
Because it brings together design and local craftsmanship within a single workshop, using timber, stone and earth with an economy of means that drastically reduces its impact.
