Descarboniza is an independent technical decision platform for architects, specifiers and manufacturers who want to build with less impact — and be able to prove it.

More and more technicians, manufacturers and developers want to build better. But information on the real impact of materials and construction systems is still scattered, opaque and hard to compare.
EPDs sit in separate databases. Industry-average data gets mixed in with verified figures. Greenwashing slips into product sheets with no one to flag it. And the technician who has to choose a material loses hours they don't have.
Descarboniza exists to fix that. We gather, verify and present the data in a format a specifier can use in five minutes.
Descarboniza is an open directory of manufacturers, materials, studios and projects for sustainable construction in Spain, with verifiable environmental data (EPDs to EN 15804).
Plus a set of technical tools: a comparator of construction systems by impact, cost and thermal performance; a transmittance calculator; a radon risk assessor; and a dedicated channel for Energy Saving Certificates (CAE).
Focus on existing buildings as the first lever for cutting emissions.
Efficiency, healthiness and sustainability of building envelopes.
The impact of each component across every life-cycle stage.
The EU Taxonomy's Do No Significant Harm as the technical baseline.
And with the European Green Deal, the 2030 Agenda and the deep renovation of Spain's building stock between now and 2050. Sustainability is the baseline, not the sales pitch.
Building engineer, founder of Descarboniza. A decade on site, and the second half of it measuring what buildings leave behind.

“I started out measuring shadows and ended up measuring impacts.”
We started by asking an uncomfortable question: why has the industry spent twenty years talking about sustainability without the data to prove it?
Not out of bad faith. For lack of tools. EPDs were scattered, industry-average data got mixed in with verified figures, and the technician who had to choose a material lost hours they didn't have. Anyone who wanted to build well did it against the current.
What was missing wasn't conviction. What was missing was a tool — one where a technician could, in five minutes, compare two systems and know which one has the better impact, why, and with what margin of confidence.
That's what we're building. Not out of climate poetry — out of technical common sense.
Environmental data is fragile. One misread EPD, one botched conversion, one bit of greenwashing slipped into a listing — and you break the one thing a technician comes here for: trust.
That's why Descarboniza doesn't scale on hot air. Every product is verified. Every figure has a source. Every manufacturer goes through a filter. And when there's doubt, we say so on the listing.
That's slower than a Silicon Valley launch. And it's the only thing that makes sense when what's at stake is a technical decision about a building that will stand for eighty years.
It doesn't happen alone. There's an extended team — developers, designers and technicians who step in at specific moments — and a guild of architects that sends back corrections almost every week. That keeps the project honest.
We grow at the pace you can grow well. It's the only way that, five years from now, everything here still holds true.
