GORDILLOS CAL DE MORÓN S.L.U

Gordillo's Cal de Morón is the last family keeping alive the artisan lime-making of Morón de la Frontera (Seville), a craft UNESCO listed in 2011 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. They have produced lime since 1846 — with consolidated industrial activity since 1874 — using hand-selected limestone from their own quarry, fired for 7 to 9 days in Arab vaulted kilns up to 7 m across, fuelled with olive, pine or eucalyptus wood. The result is an air lime of 98-99 % purity. Their catalogue goes well beyond quicklime: air and hydraulic limes (HL3.5 and HL5), air and hydraulic mortars — including Tadelakt and a draining base mortar for damp pathologies — lime and silicate paints, stuccoes, limewashes, Kratzputz and their own bonding bridge. Structural products carry product-level CE marking (system 2+), and paints and stuccoes hold the A+ indoor air emissions label. Environmentally they are ahead of their sector's average: ISO 14001, an organisation carbon footprint calculated under the GHG Protocol and registered with Spain's MITECO since 2019, and a CO₂-compensation certificate from Garantía Cámara quantifying lime recarbonation — the CO₂ the material recaptures as it cures on the wall, closing the cycle the kiln opened. As far as we know they are the only company in the Spanish sector holding it. What they still lack is an Environmental Product Declaration under EN 15804. They run R&D with the University of Seville, the IAPH and the IPCE, and work in heritage restoration: the Roman Theatre of Mérida, Cádiz Cathedral, San Miguel de Lillo (Oviedo), the Royal Artillery Factory of Seville and the Piedraescrita hermitage (Toledo), alongside new build and natural construction.
