K-Briq: unfired brick with over 90% recycled waste and BBA certification.
Spin-out from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh that manufactures the K-Briq, an unfired brick made up of more than 90% recycled construction and demolition waste. By dispensing with the kiln, it consumes around a tenth of the energy of a conventional ceramic brick and, according to the company, reduces the carbon footprint by 90%. It holds BBA certification in the UK (certificate 25/7367) and DrJ certification in the United States, and its EPD is currently being processed.
