Grupo Gallardo's electric steelworks in Badajoz: steel made from scrap with an EPD verified under AENOR's GlobalEPD.
Steelworks of Grupo Gallardo with an electric arc furnace steel mill in Jerez de los Caballeros (Badajoz). It produces structural and reinforcing steel from recycled scrap, a route that substantially reduces energy consumption and emissions compared with the traditional blast furnace. Its products have environmental declarations verified under AENOR's GlobalEPD programme (001-019, 001-020 and 001-021). It is one of the few large steelworks in the south-west of the Iberian Peninsula, bringing recycled steel closer to building sites in Extremadura and Andalusia without long transport distances.
Because it manufactures recycled steel in an electric furnace with verified EPDs, and does so from Extremadura, outside the usual steelmaking hubs.
