Timbercrete

Australian manufacturer of the eponymous material: blocks, bricks, panels and pavers that combine sawdust and residual cellulose with sand and cement binders. The result is lighter than solid concrete, with greater insulating capacity than conventional brick, and encapsulates carbon by giving an outlet to waste wood that would otherwise be burnt or decompose; no tree is felled to produce it. It can be nailed, screwed and sawn like wood. Developed by Peter Collier and patented, it is produced under licence in various regions of Australia.
