International research and training centre on raw earth architecture, associated with the school of architecture of Grenoble (France). Since 1979 it has studied, taught and disseminated earth construction techniques, advising on projects, heritage and cooperation worldwide, and collaborating with UNESCO. It matters for decarbonising construction because raw earth is a local, abundant, reusable material with a very low energy footprint, and CRAterre is the world reference that provides the technical rigour needed to use it in contemporary building.
