The residents' cooperative is based on a new relationship with ownership, sometimes defined as a third way of housing, between renting and owning, between the private market and the public market. In fact, the cooperative society owns the property (building + land) and continues to do so. A shared loan is taken out, with monthly payments covered by contributions from the cooperating residents. To safeguard the project, the cooperative sets aside provisions for major repairs and maintenance, as well as a provision for vacancies and unpaid rent.
Why we chose it
Because it proposes a third way between renting and owning: cooperative housing, where the building belongs to everyone and no one speculates with it. A different model of living, not just of building.
