PHIUS (Passive House Institute US)
Chicago, Estados Unidos
A US non-profit organisation that develops and certifies passive buildings adapted to the North American climate. Building on the European Passivhaus foundation, PHIUS created its own climate-specific standard (PHIUS+ and PHIUS 2021) and trains professionals, certifying homes, high-rise buildings and products. It matters for decarbonising construction because it promotes near-zero energy buildings in the US and Canada, drastically reducing operational energy and paving the way towards net zero in one of the largest construction markets in the world.
