8 VPP Salvador Espriu (Palma)

IBAVI development of eight publicly protected homes on Calle Salvador Espriu in Palma, designed by the team of Carles Oliver, author of Life Reusing Posidonia. It recovers local materials with very low embodied energy: load-bearing walls of marés, the local sandstone, and dried posidonia as natural insulation. The project demonstrates that Balearic public housing can drastically reduce embodied carbon by reactivating the island's quarries and trades, with passive solutions adapted to the Mediterranean climate.
