The "Casa rural VB" project by Lucas y Hernández-Gil is a refurbishment of an 18th-century dwelling in Villalba de los Barros, Spain. The intervention respects the original architecture, highlighting its historic features, such as the vaults and load-bearing walls, whilst adapting the space for modern use as a guesthouse. Traditional materials such as lime mortar and handmade bricks were used. The house has three bedrooms, courtyards, and a pool, maintaining a balance between the past and the contemporary.
