Daca, Bangladés
Studio of Bangladeshi architect Kashef Chowdhury, based in Dhaka (Bangladesh). He is the author of the Friendship Centre in Gaibandha, built in local brick and adapted to a flood-prone region, recognised with the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2016. His work employs local materials, water and natural light as protagonists, and meticulous attention to the climate and territory of the delta. He practises an unhurried, low-impact architecture, deeply rooted in the material culture of Bangladesh.
Why we chose it
Because the Friendship Centre, Aga Khan Award winner 2016, exemplifies an architecture in local brick, climatically adapted and with a low footprint.
