DescriptionGordillos Cal de Morón is the last family still maintaining the traditional craft production of lime in Morón de la Frontera (Seville). Since the mid-19th century they have produced high-quality lime for construction, livestock farming, agriculture and restoration. They use stone kilns of Arab origin fired with olive wood, in which local limestone is calcined to obtain a 100% natural lime of great purity. This traditional knowledge, passed down from generation to generation, was recognised by UNESCO in 2011 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Morón lime regulates humidity, is antibacterial and fungicidal, and is used in monument restoration work and in natural building.
