Egoin's CLT is a structural cross-laminated timber panel manufactured by Egoin Wood Group, a Basque group headquartered in Ea (Bizkaia) with plants in Natxitua, Goiain and Legutio (Álava), the latter considered the largest CLT plant in southern Europe. It produces over 35,000 m3 of CLT a year from locally certified timber (PEFC/FSC), mainly radiata pine from the surrounding area, under a zero-kilometre approach that reduces the transport footprint compared with Central European or Scandinavian CLT. The panels are manufactured using high-frequency pressing, automatic finger-joint splicing and structural grading by machine vision, in formats of up to 14 m in length and thicknesses from 90 to 400 mm, and are complemented by glue-laminated timber (glulam) and light timber frame systems. They are used in walls, floors and roofs for residential, tertiary and educational buildings: projects such as the Bloc 6x6 in Girona (35 dwellings assembled in six weeks) or a 20-dwelling Passivhaus block in Muros de Nalón illustrate its role in low-carbon industrialised construction.
