Alnatura Campus

Headquarters of the organic food chain Alnatura in Darmstadt (Germany), completed in 2019: the largest office building in Europe with a rammed earth façade. Its 69 cm thick rammed earth walls — an outer leaf of 38 cm, a middle insulating layer of 17 cm and an inner leaf of 14 cm — were assembled using prefabricated elements measuring 3.5 × 1 metres, and integrate, for the first time, geothermal heating embedded within the earth wall. Designed for up to 500 employees, with natural light and passive ventilation, it stands as the great corporate manifesto of raw earth.
