Vancouver, Canadá
An 18-storey, 53-metre student residence on the campus of the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver. On completion in 2017, it was the tallest hybrid timber building in the world: glulam columns and CLT floor slabs on a podium and two concrete cores. The timber structure and prefabricated façade were assembled in just 66 days. It houses 404 students and served as a regulatory testbed for tall timber construction in Canada, documenting notable savings in embodied carbon.
