Dandaji, Níger
A religious and cultural complex in the village of Dandaji (Niger), completed in 2018 by Atelier Masōmī (Mariam Kamara) and Studio Chahar (Yasaman Esmaili). Rather than demolishing the disused adobe mosque, the project rehabilitates it as a library and community centre, repairing its earthen fabric with the original master masons, and builds a new mosque alongside it using compressed earth blocks. Inspired by the House of Wisdom in Baghdad, it brings together secular and religious knowledge and stands as a reference for circular rehabilitation in earth construction.
