    Rønde, Dinamarca

    A 250 m² extension of a rural school in Feldballe, near Rønde (Denmark), completed in 2022 by Henning Larsen as a demonstrator of bio-based construction. Timber structure and roof, envelope made with prefabricated compressed-straw panels in timber cassettes (EcoCocon system) and natural ventilation filters made of locally harvested eelgrass (seaweed). The plant-based materials store more carbon than was emitted during construction, resulting in a negative embodied balance. Small in scale, it is one of the European references for the straw-and-timber school of thought.
