Obrador Panista

Bakery workshop and shop in Santander designed by Zooco Estudio in 2022, built with Tapialblock, compacted earth blocks produced by Fetdeterra. The raw earth provides thermal mass and hygroscopicity, regulating temperature and humidity in a craft production space, with a carbon footprint much lower than that of conventional façades. The project exemplifies the return of earth to urban commercial premises, with a material that is demountable and recyclable at the end of its service life.
