Ciudad de México, México
Studio founded in 2015 by Mariana Ordóñez Grajales and Jesica Amescua, based in Mexico City. It works with rural and indigenous communities through participatory design and construction, combining research, regional material engineering and vernacular typologies. Its housing projects in Tepetzintan and other communities use earth, timber, bamboo and updated traditional techniques. Recognised with the Architectural League's Emerging Voices award in 2018, it champions collective, low-impact architecture rooted in local knowledge.
Why we chose it
Because it produces contemporary vernacular housing with earth, timber and bamboo alongside communities, bringing together low impact and participatory construction.
