Casa La Sequieta — tierra compactada y CLT en Vila-real

Vila-real (Castellón), España

A 344 m² house in the historic centre of Vila-real by Lacol, completed in 2024, on two plots whose buildings were too deteriorated to refurbish. The existing facades and party walls are kept. A grid of load-bearing compressed-earth block walls organises the house into rooms of about 20 m²; floors are timber beams with 80 mm cross-laminated panels, and facades are insulated with 6 cm of lime-and-cork mortar. 80 cm eaves and timber louvres provide solar protection.
