Baix Empordà (Girona), España

A single-family home in the Baix Empordà (Girona) designed by Mesura and completed in 2020. It's built with km0 materials: ceramics from local producers, stone and aggregates linked to the River Ter, and traditional techniques such as ceramic vaulting and lime mortars. The proximity of the materials cuts down transport and embodied carbon, whilst the ceramic mass, porches and cross ventilation moderate the indoor climate passively, rooting the house in the agricultural landscape of the Empordà.
