Edificio Impulso Verde

An 18-metre public building from the LIFE Lugo+Biodinámico project, located in the multi-ecological neighbourhood of Lugo. It is the first building in Spain with FSC 100% project certification: a structure built entirely from local Galician timber, with 270 m³ of radiata pine CLT panels, 45 m³ of radiata pine glulam and 7 m³ of eucalyptus glulam (Eucalyptus globulus). It includes a Gridshell system of reticular laminar structures in eucalyptus. Ventilated façade in natural slate. Programme: municipal services, coworking for environment-related businesses, exhibitions and training classrooms. Team: Manuel Guaita, Antonio J. Lara Bocanegra and Susana Penedo Souto (USC + UPM). Mapei 2024 Award for Public Building and MATCOAM Sustainability 2025 mention. 74% energy savings and 90% less CO₂ emissions than conventional construction.
