Training centre for the builder Obayashi in Yokohama, completed in 2022: Japan's first tall building with an entirely timber structure and certified fire resistance. Eleven storeys and 44 metres, with LVL columns and beams and CLT floors and walls, protected by the company's own O·Mega Wood system, achieving up to three hours of fire resistance. The structural timber stores carbon and reduces embodied emissions by around 1,700 tonnes of CO₂ compared with a steel and concrete equivalent, using Japanese timber.
