Reggio School

A school in El Encinar de los Reyes (Madrid), designed by Andrés Jaque / Office for Political Innovation and completed in 2022, shortlisted for the EUMies awards. Its building envelope of 14-centimetre sprayed cork works as both insulation and finish, and the building does away with false ceilings and cladding to reduce material use and embodied carbon. Cork, renewable and a store of CO2, turns the façade itself into a pedagogical argument for a school conceived as an ecosystem.
