DescriptionAmorim Cork Insulation S.A., part of the Portuguese group Corticeira Amorim, manufactures Expanded Insulation Corkboard panels. The product is obtained by expanding cork granulate using steam, with no additives: only natural, recyclable cork is used. This process generates a 100% natural material with high dimensional stability, virtually unlimited durability and very low embodied energy, and the carbon balance is negative thanks to the CO2 fixed by the cork oak forests and the renewable energy used. These boards provide thermal, acoustic and anti-vibration insulation in a single product, with high thermal inertia and a delay in heat transmission. They have a density of around 110 kg/m³ and an approximate thermal conductivity of 0.036 – 0.038 W/m·K. They come in thicknesses from 10 to 300 mm and are suitable for roofs, façades, floors and walls, both in ETICS systems and for internal insulation; the company holds environmental certifications and promotes sustainable management of cork oak forests.
