DescriptionBrussels-based cooperative founded in 2018 as a spin-off of BC Architects. It transforms excavation soil from Belgian building sites, which would otherwise end up in landfill, into compressed earth blocks, mortars, clay plasters and rammed earth, produced at its plant in the port of Brussels. Its materials are unfired, so their carbon footprint is minimal: the company estimates that its clay plasters emit a very small fraction of the CO2 of a conventional gypsum plaster. It is a European benchmark for circular construction with urban earth.
