DescriptionStructural particleboard P5 manufactured by Elka-Holzwerke GmbH (Morbach, Germany) from spruce wood residues sourced from FSC and PEFC certified forests. Visually similar to OSB but with finer chips and random orientation, giving it isotropic strength: transverse tensile strength is ~40% higher than an equivalent OSB and the moisture swelling coefficient is significantly lower. It is one of the few boards on the European market certified as climate-neutral (the first wood-based board with this certification on the German market, 2021). The ESB Plus variant meets the stricter criteria of the Blue Angel (RAL-UZ 76) and has been recommended on the Sentinel Haus Portal for healthy construction since 2016, with E05 formaldehyde emissions (half the E1 limit). EPD verified by IBU (Institut für Bauen und Umwelt) under ISO 14025 and EN 15804 through the VHI association. Applicable to roofs (including tongue-and-groove sarking board according to ZVDH), walls, floors, prefabricated houses, furniture and trade fair stands. Awards: Iconic Award 2017 and Material Award 2018 (Ecology category).
