Fetdeterra is a studio from Lleida specialising in earth architecture and innovation, founded by architect Maite Sainz de la Maza and geologist Macari de Torres. It researches and manufactures raw earth products; its Tapialblock system —a prefabricated compacted earth block for walls— won First Prize at the XIV Spanish Architecture and Urban Planning Biennial. Its solutions make use of the high thermal inertia of earth to reduce the building's energy demand with a local, abundant and reusable material.
