DescriptionMartin Rauch's workshop-company in Schlins (Vorarlberg, Austria), a world reference for contemporary rammed earth construction. It builds in-situ rammed earth walls and has industrialised the prefabrication of unstabilised rammed earth elements at its ERDEN facility, allowing the material to be returned entirely to the ground at the end of its service life. Raw earth requires very little energy to process and acts as a natural hygrothermal regulator. Rauch's work has been recognised with the UNESCO Chair in Earthen Architecture and the New European Bauhaus prize.
