DescriptionJapanese forestry and timber group founded in 1959, the world's largest producer of authentic yakisugi: Japanese cedar (sugi) wood surface-charred, also known as shou sugi ban. The Nakamoto family has managed sugi and hinoki forests in Hiroshima since the 1920s and produces over one million square metres annually across its four plants in Hiroshima and Tokushima. Charring protects the façade naturally and extends its service life without chemical treatments. It distributes across North America and Europe from its own warehouses.
