DescriptionSaint-Astier is a French family-owned company that has been manufacturing natural hydraulic limes and mortars since 1920 from the limestone rock at its quarry in Saint-Astier (Dordogne). Thanks to the unique composition of this limestone, they obtain NHL2, NHL 3,5 and NHL 5 hydraulic limes through controlled firing without additives or cement. Its mortars are flexible, vapour-permeable and compatible with old substrates; they reabsorb the CO₂ emitted during manufacture and are reusable and recyclable. The range includes binders and mortars for construction, renders, injections, flooring and hemp concrete, used both in heritage restoration and natural building. Eco-matériaux range (expanded 2025): insulating chaux/chanvre mortars (lime+hemp), Béton de chaux/liège (lime+recycled cork, for floors), and NOVASKIN® Thermo Plus, a 100% mineral insulating sub-render made of hydraulic lime and recycled expanded glass (λ=0.0793 W/mK, COFRAC-certified lab). In 2025 the company announced a €40M investment in a new decarbonised plant in Saint-Astier: coal replaced by natural gas (2028) then biogas (2030), targeting −25% carbon footprint by 2030 and −45% by 2040 (sources: L'Usine Nouvelle, Le Moniteur, Jun-2025). Per Valérie Auger (Sales Manager Iberica, Jul-2026), the updated internal target is −30% CO₂ emissions short-term, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2035.
