11 viviendas en el Coll d'en Rabassa

Eleven public housing units in the Coll d'en Rabassa neighbourhood (Palma), designed by Carles Enrich Studio for IBAVI. The proposal uses marés, the local sandstone, in load-bearing walls left exposed, which provide thermal mass and do away with superfluous cladding. Choosing a material from a nearby quarry with very low embodied energy reduces embodied carbon and transport, revives a construction technique native to Mallorca, and produces homes that are passive, durable and simple to maintain.
