Mercat del Peix Research Center

Research centre in Barcelona's Ciutadella del Coneixement, designed by ZGF Architects with MIRAG and currently under construction. It will be one of the largest mass timber buildings in Spain, intended for scientific institutions on the former Mercat del Peix site. The timber structure substantially reduces embodied carbon compared with an equivalent concrete-and-steel building, placing Barcelona on the European map of large-scale facilities built in timber.
